Welcome To BerryDeals a Blackberry Mobile Phone Deal Comparison Site

Posted by Unknown / Category:

Welcome to BlackBerry Deals, a mobile phone price comparison site specialising in BlackBerry Mobile Phone Contracts. You can find the cheapest BlackBerry deals by looking on individual pages, or refine your search using the search block to the right. If you are looking for particular special offers, such as free gifts (laptops, xbox etc) you can use the "Free Gift" drop down list in the widget, as well as being able to filter by network, minutes, texts etc. By default the search results will show the cheapest offers first, which will pick up deals including free line rental, automatic or instant cash back

Deal Search Help

The search widget on this site is designed to give you as much control as possible when searching for your contract. This does add a little complexity so it is worth understanding how it works in order to get the most from it.

Minutes and Texts are Exact Match

Currently we exact match on texts and minutes, so, if you enter 500 minutes we only show deals with 500 minutes. We are in the process of changing this as sometimes contracts with more minutes can be cheaper.
The reason for this is the difference in tarrifs between networks. Consider a (hypthetical) situation where Orange, Vodafone and T-Mobile offer contracts with 500 minutes but the Three network does not, instead using a tarrif starting at 600 minutes. In this situation it is quite possible that increasing the number of inclusive minutes will actually find you a cheaper deal.
Of course this does not apply if you are filtering by network provider.
We are in the process of changing our search widget to allow you to search using “minimum” limits as well as exact match. For the interim, please consider this possible anomoly when searching for deals.

Less is More

The more parameters you select the fewer deals will be checked. For this reason it is best to start looking for contracts with as few options selected as possible, then refine your search based on the initial results brought back.

The Deal Counter

Above the search button in our widget is a “deal counter” which will check the number of contracts available matching your criteria before you hit the search button. This may take a few seconds to settle. If you have made several changes to the drop down options in close succession it may take a little longer to reach its final correct value. There is no harm in searching whilst this counter is still “working”. The purpose of that counter is purely informational and designed to save time searching for deals that do not exist, or “bad combinations” of porducts.
A simple example of a “bad combination” would be searching for a deal with 50 inclusive minutes and a free Apple Mac Book. Clearly, you are not going to get a free incentive like a Mac Book with the cheapest contracts, so that kind of search will return no products.
Another example are limited edition handsets which are only available on a specific network. For example, at time of writing the BlackBerry Torch Red is only available with VodaFone, so, if you search for deals specifying the Torch red with another network provider like Orange you are not going to see any deals.

Sorting Options

Our website features a custom search widget in our sidebar which, if used properly will help you find the cheapest BlackBerry deal very quickly. The last of the options in this widget is titled “Order By Cheapest Total Cost”, which is the default setting, however, there are other options available to you which are explained below:

Order By Cheapest Total Cost

This setting will order deals cheapest first based on the total cost of the contract over the full term of the contract including things like:
  • Handset Cost (if you have to pay money for the phone itself on top of your contract)
  • Cash Back (both instant / automatic cash back and cash back by redemption)
  • Total Line Rental payable to the network provider
  • Months Free, for example some deals offer three or four months free, usually using a different kind of cashback option

Order By Lowest Monthly Average

This is essentially the same search as the one above, factoring in all costs and discounts, the difference being it then averages out the cost of the contract over the term of the contract. So, on an 18 month contract it will divide the total cost by 18, and on a 24 month contract it will divide the total cost by 24.
The reason this search can be useful is that, when ordering by total cost shorter term contracts are likely to come up first, which though cheaper overall come up for renewal sooner. It may therefore be the case that a longer term contract 0f 24 months has a lower average.
Of course what you have to keep in mind is that even if an 18 month contract has a higher average, it may still be cheaper as at the end of the contract you own the handset, which you could either sell, or put a pay as you go sim card into.
The only instance when Order By Lowest Monthly Average is likely to genuinely work out cheaper is if there is a fee for the handset itself, for example, you have to pay £100 on top of your contract to get the handset you want.

Order By Monthly Line Rental

This filter orders deals based solely on the amount of line rental payable to the network provider. As with all our searches, deals are listed cheapest first, however, as all discounts and handset costs are excluded from this search, it is unlikely to show better deals than the two searches above which factor in all additional costs and discounts.

Most Cash Back

This filter orders deals by the amount of cash back highest first. I am not quite sure why people look for deals with the most cash back, but they do, so we included it in our search tool.

Handset Price

If you are looking at a high end handset on a cheap contract then you will often have to pay extra for the handset. For example, you are not likely to get the latest BlackBerry Torch (BlackBerrys flagship model at time of writing) for free with a contract that only costs £10 or £15 per month.
In this instance, you may actually want to order deals to find the cheapest handset price. This is likely to return deals which have a slightly higher line rental with a lower up front cost.

The Blackberry Bold 9700 is the predecessor of the current BlackBerry Bold 9780, which you may want to check out before ordering this older model. The original review for this phone was written early in 2010, when the 9700 was the latest and greatest in the Bold range and the most popular selling handset in the UK, so when the review says “newer” it is relates to the market as it was in early 2010. Things have moved on since then, but this handset remains a solid piece of kit, and as it reaches end of life may allow you to pick up a bargain, so… the BB 9700:
The BlackBerry Bold 9700 is the newer edition of the Blackberry Bold 9000, it weighs less, it looks sleeker and has a much better camera in terms of mega pixels. The Blackberry Bold 9700, like the 9000 also features a built in GPS system which works with the Blackberry Maps software. The Blackberry Bold 9700 also has an excellent security system which users have highlighted as one of the most important features of a Blackberry, it has to be safe and secure. The Bold 9700 has password protection and sleep lock features to keep your all important details safe.
Features of the Blackberry Bold 9700
  • The Blackberry Bold 9700 weighs only 122 grams, making it 11 grams lighter than its earlier model the Blackberry Bold 9000.
  • The battery life is also much extended with the stand by battery life being 408 hours and the active talk time battery life being 6 hours.
  • As with all Blackberry models the Blackberry Bold 9700 has messaging capability. SMS, MMS, instant Messaging and email.
  • Sleek black stylish design.
  • QUERTY keyboard for quick and easy typing.
  • Navigation is via a trackball set in the middle of the Blackberry, below the screen
  • Wide screen and navigation pad but the Blackberry Bold 9700 still has a slim frame.
Good Points of the Blackberry Bold 9700
  • Clear Screen. The screen is very clear which means the picture quality has perfect quality.
  • Expandable Memory. The Blackberry Bold 9700 has an internal memory of 256MB but can support an external SD card of up to 8GB
  • Connectivity. The Blackberry Bold 9700 has 3G technology which means it connects to the internet really quickly. The Wi-Fi technology of course makes this all possible so combined the 3G and Wi-Fi make for quick and easy internet surfing a variety of Wi-Fi hot spots.
  • Multimedia. The Blackberry Bold 9700 had a really wide range of multimedia applications including a music player, video recording and playback, picture albums and a camera.
  • Camera. The inbuilt digital camera featured in the Blackberry Bold 9700 is 3.2MP, a marked improvement on the MP number of the Blackberry Bold 9000.
  • Security. Security and screen lock functions.
  • Rubberised Keys. All the side keys (volume, lock etc) are rubberised for extra grip. Most users like this but some have reported problems (see bad points)
Bad Points of the Blackberry Bold 9700
  • Sticky keys. Users have reported that the tiny size of the QUERTY keyboard keys means that the keys often stick and sometimes fall off and then are very hard to replace. This is a problem reported throughout the Blackberry range and not just something that lies solely with the Blackberry Bold 9700.
  • Rubberised Keys. All the side keys on the Blackberry Bold 9700 are rubberised and some users have reported that this causes problems gripping. However some users have suggested that this is a plus point of the Blackberry Bold 9700.
